I think it’s okay to have uniforms because then it will be easy to pick out clothes in the morning and not stress over what you look like because everyone will be wearing the same thing. It will also be easy to do laundry to because you will have more than one shirt and shorts. People won’t judge you on what you wear because they will be wearing the same thing. Also it shows how the students represent their school when they are at other schools that they go to for activities such as art and sporting events. It looks good to wear uniforms because when important people come to visit they will think that our school cleans up well.

The song I chose that inspires me is What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger) by Kelly Clarkson. This song inspires me because she tells everyone to stay strong and move on when you’re hurt, and that you are better off without him. The lyric “Think that I’d come running back, baby you don’t know me, ‘cause your dead wrong” means that since their gone he thinks that you can; live without him but your denying it and proving him that you can. In this whole song my favorite lyric is “Thanks to you I’m finally thinking about me you know in the end you left is just my beginning.” This lyric inspires me because when your with a person that’s pretty much who you think of the most and since he’s history your finally thinking about yourself and making your own decisions.

I was over my friend’s house today we were going to the carnival. We were on our way; I haven’t been to the carnival in awhile so I’m really excited. When we got there the lights on the rides were beautiful. I can smell the delicious popcorn being popped in the concessions. The music was loud and fun. People were laughing and having a great time.
“Let’s go on the dropping ride!” said Emma.
“Um… it’s pretty high I don’t really like drops” I said.
“It will be over before you know it.” She said.
We were in the line waiting. Then all of a sudden I heard….
“Next!!!!!”
The line moved really fast, it was already out turn. The unbuckled the seat for us to get in. I was so scared I was shaking so bad.
“Are you alright?” Emma asked.
“Yeah just a little nervous.” I said
“It will be over before you know it.” She said.
Suddenly I saw the guy pull the lever to begin the ride. I felt the ride begin to start moving upward. I began to freak out about how high we are when it dropped. When the ride was over Emma asked if I liked it.
“It was okay but im not going on it again.” I said.
We began to walk around when we came upon the ferris wheel.
“Let’s go on it!” I said. Emma agreed and we got in line. We got on, the ride began. When we got to the top we could see whole carnival it was beautiful with the flashing lights. It was a great day.

                                                                     Alien Story
One sunny morning I woke up and turned the TV on.
“There aliens attacking the earth only certain people were chosen to leave on a ship. Their allowed to bring one other person. The names of the people are Joanne, Hunter, Katie, Madison, Liam, Ryan, Noah, and Kellie “said the news guy.
“Oh my god did they just say my name?”
I ran downstairs to go see if my family is awake. The only person I saw was my sister Spencer.
“Where’s mom, dad, and Jack” I asked.
“I have no idea I found a not they left.” She said.
The note said, Dear Kellie and Spencer, Kellie has been chosen to go on the ship that will save you. So we left, we will meet again. Watch out for her love mom and dad.
“Before I came downstairs I heard them say my name that’s what I was going to tell you.”
I looked out the window it was all smokey and the smell was horrible. It smelt like burning wood. Everything was gone. But Spencer and I needed to hurry up and pack so we can make it on time to the ship.
“Okay so what time does the ship leave?” Spencer asked.
“I believe it leaves at noon.” I said.
“So we have about 3 hours to get ourselves ready.” She said.
We ran up stairs. I heard people screaming and crying. There were very loud explosives so we needed to get out of her fast. I opened up my closet and got out my purple suitcase. I packed some clothes, blanket, a pillow, my picture frame of my family, and some food and water. Spencer said she’ll pack the shampoo and other stuff.

I woke up it was 6:30 on a Saturday morning I had to get up and get ready for my S.A.T’s which I can’t be late to. I opened my door it was still dark out I could hear the birds beginning to chirp and my dog snoring on the chair. My stomach started rumbling so I took out a bowl of cereal. This is way too early I thought to myself as I took a bite out of my cereal. After I finished I washed out the bowl and spoon. My friend was going to pick me up around 7:20 to bring me to the S.A.T’s. I was excited about after my S.A.T’s because we were going to the movies and then to the mall. My friend cam and got me.
“Are you ready?” she asked.
“I’m just a little nervous but I’ll be fine” I said.
We left for Deltona. They began to separate everyone in different rooms according to their last names. I walked in the room, it was very cold and I was so nervous. I sat in my desk as our instructor read off the instructions. When she said “begin” everyone started their test. It’s been five hours I’m tired and hungry. My stomach growled everyone looked at me it was kind of uncomfortable.
“Five minutes left” said our instructor.
Thank goodness I said to myself
“Stop!” the instructor said.
She began to collect everyone’s test and test booklet. After she dismissed us we left to go to the movies.

In the article Earth Without People the author uses imagery to show the readers what it would be like to live on earth without people. The author uses the five senses of imagery to show us what would happen to the earth and how it would look. It talks about how there will be a lot more animals when people are gone, and how in a thousand years the world would look the same as it did before the humans came. Some examples of imagery in the article is “the water-soaked steel columns that support the street above the East side’s of the subway tunnels would corrode and buckle, turning Lexington Avenue into a river” (Weisman, Alan). That is an example of touch because it’s talking about how the columns are damped. “Virginia creeper and poison ivy would claw at the walls covered with lichens, which thrive in the absence of air pollution” (Weisman, Alan).  Is an example of see because they can’t see any air pollution. Another example of touch is “freezing and thawing common in months like March and November would split cement within a decade allowing water to seep in” (Weisman, Alan). That last statement is talking about how cold it gets in the winter and how hot it gets that makes the ice crack easily.

College Essay

                                                                  College Essay

The person who has had the most significant influence in my life would be my dad. He has always encouraged me to push myself, not only in school, but in sporting activities. In school he helps me with things like math and history, and questions me on things that I have to do for homework. I have learned to prepare well in advance so I am ready for upcoming quizzes and tests.  Over the years I have come to realize that there are many different ways for me to get myself prepared and has helped me establish a routine for managing my schedule.  Also, this has helped me understand how important a strong work ethic is for every aspect of my life.
My dad is also a SAT tutor and works with me to get me prepared to score the best I can on the test.  I know that I need to practice my SAT skills a great deal in order to do well. I work hard to keep my grades up the same way I do with sports because the colleges look at your high school grade records in addition to the SAT scores. As a result, I have committed to myself that I would do my best and his influence on me made me realize that if I want to go to a good college I would have to want it and work as hard as I can to go to the school that I want to go to. To prepare myself for the SAT I study 20 words a week and do an hour worth of sections such as grammar, math, and reading a day to practice so when the test comes it will be a little bit easier than I would expect. The process with preparing for the SAT’s is similar to preparing to basketball.  The more you practice, the better you will become and you’ll have a good score on your test.
I have learned many things from my dad but one valuable thing that I have learned was patience. He has always been very patient and some of his patience rubbed off on me. I used to get frustrated with myself when I began learning to drive, especially for not being able to park well. I would always turn in too late or too early and I became irritated. I had to understand that I wasn’t going to learn how to drive overnight and that it would take patience, practice and time. After a while, once I became more patient and had a bit more practice, I got the hang of it. In the past I use to get frustrated, but then I realized that was counter-productive and giving up won’t get you anywhere.
Every year before basketball season begins he has encouraged me to begin working out in advance and get in shape so I would be ready. I run two and a half miles and then do weightlifting. I work out about two hours five times a week. He constantly pushes me to get better and better, and encourages me to push myself. When basketball starts I work hard and always behave the same as I would play in a game because the way you play during practices will become how you will act and play like when the games come.
To prepare myself for choosing a college my dad has taken me to see some schools so I can narrow down the choices about what I like and dislike about them, and actually visualize myself being there. During the college tours they showed us what the campus looks like, the dorm rooms, and some of the classrooms.
My dad’s influence helped me prepare myself for, not only college, but life in general because by pushing me I really understand that you need to have goals and work very hard to achieve them. I really appreciate the influence he has been in my life by constantly supporting and encouraging me to work hard, knowing that he believes in me and has helped me believe in myself.
